SPECIAL RESOLUTIONS:
The following changes to the Constitution, submitted by some members, are presented for approval of the membership:
SPECIAL RESOLUTION
No.1
Dues for couples and
single members
New Clause: Part 4 – Dues, Fees, and Assessment
Moved: A clause be included in the Constitution deeming couples and single members to be equal and entitled to the same fees.
New Paragraph: 22 would read:
22. Annual dues will be assessed equally for couples and single members.
SPECIAL RESOLUTION
No. 2
Annual Dues
Existing Clause: Part 4 – Dues, Fees, and Assessments
17. Family membership rates shall be established so that the differential between Couples and Family memberships is seventy-five percent (75%) of a Junior membership.
Moved clause 17 be amended by inserting the word “Singles/” after the word “between”.
Amended Paragraph 17 would read:
17. Family membership rates shall be established so that the
differential between Singles/Couples and Family memberships is seventy-five
percent (75%) of a Junior membership.
Rationale: Nowhere in the Constitution is there a clause differentiating between the dues to be paid by single members, married couples, and deemed spouses under the Income Tax Act. Currently 82 single playing members are assessed $165, approximately 34% more than couples. Couples pay $1,020, or $510 each. As there are 46 couples (92 playing members), the club is giving couples a discount of at least $15,000 a year.
Grand fathering current couple members will result in the
Club continuing to give this discount. Couples are rewarded for renewing their
memberships and no incentive is given to singles to renew their memberships.
Couples with two incomes, for the most part, are being subsidized by singles
with one income. Most other golf clubs have discontinued the practice of
offering couples memberships years ago.
The new clause will ensure that all playing members pay
equally and will provide more of an incentive for singles memberships.
SPECIAL RESOLUTION No. 3
Rationale: Our fleet of power carts is rapidly deteriorating and we need to start replacing them. Accounting for power carts was never separated from general revenue. As a good profit center that generates good income to the Club, it is felt that a separate accounting for power cart should be instituted and that the money for that kind of capital imvestment should not come from general revenue as was the past practice. The money requested from that levy should get us started on the right foot with no further request as the program will be self financing after the inital investment.
INCREASE IN DUES:
The Board recommends that dues be increased for the 2006/07 season by 4% (rounded to the nearest $5.00) to cover the cost of living.
The
Board recommends that Junior dues should become $100.00 and that no increase
be applied to Social and Associate members.
