Dear
members
Sometime in
the near future the weather will change and the rain and cold will set in
for a few months and our Club House will revert to its winter mode.
A few hard
core golf enthusiasts will still show up regardless of the weather but most of
us will turn our attention to other ways of spending our winter.
Last
season our Club House was closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the
months of November, December, January and February. The plan this year is to do
exactly the same thing. We found out it was the most economical way to
operate for the amount of revenue we were getting. We made an analysis of
previous years' income on a daily basis and consequently instituted that
schedule.
If we could
generate more business from our membership and outside functions then we could
open all week. For this to happen, we need more
participation during the days that we are open. At this time, we
plan to carry on with “Line Dancing” on Thursday afternoon; TGIF on Friday
followed by “Darts Night” and also have that day as the “cheap beer day”.
Efforts are being made to either rent or use Saturday evening for social
events. Sundays will still have our “Famous Breakfast” and the Museum Society
will have their meat draw every second Sunday afternoon from
We are open
for suggestions from the membership and the sooner the better as we are in the
process of budgeting for the next twelve months. We are now looking for winter
months' activities that will make use of the Club House.
The AGM has been set for Sunday December 3rd at 10am at the Club House.

The
highlight of September was the Club Championship and the exceptional weather.
The picture for the Club Championship can be seen on the web site. As could
have been expected, Curtis Smith won the men’s low gross and Norm Perron was
the men’s overall low net winner. On the ladies side, Kim won the gross and
Cheryl Larivee won the low net.
A new
trophy was presented to the best low gross left handed golfer and this went to
Bob McClelland. The trophy was presented by friends of Ron Hadfield who used
to play pool with Ron. Ron was also a left hander and therefore the trophy is
named the Ron Hadfield Trophy.

This month's Birdie is not as informative as we would like to see it. This is the time of year when everything seems to come to a halt. We need input and we urge all members to provide us with material that they would like to see in our monthly Birdie. This is a great vehicle to exercise your creativity and contribute to the Club. All members are invited to submit. Send articles and information at: The Birdie Birdie produced by Lyn Clarke |
