The Gabriola Transportation Association (GTA) has been incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia.

The constitution of the Association can be access here: GTA Constitution

There are many ongoing transportation issues related to Island roads and Ferry services, in particular, and it is hoped that a registered Society will be more successful than individuals and ad hoc groups in dealing with the various levels of government and governmental agencies that provide transportation services to Gabriola.

The Association purposes are:
(a) to co-ordinate local and inter-regional transportation by land, sea and air on behalf of the residents of
Gabriola Island, British Columbia;
(b) to assist all Gabriola Island residents in dealing with governments and governmental agencies in
respect of land, sea and air transportation issues, and related infrastructure including roads;
(c) to develop and promote transportation alternatives which reduce costs and environmental impacts

The members of the society are:
i. Any person who is qualified to vote in Electoral District B;
ii. Any person being 14 years or older who would be qualified to vote in
Electoral District B of the Nanaimo Regional District, if he or she were 19
years of age or over.

The founding directors of GTA are Jim Ramsay, Andre Lemieux, Erik Andersen, John Woods and Randy Young.

The present Board of Directors: Jim Ramsay, Erik Andersen, Andre Lemieux, Randy Young and John Hodgkins.

The first Annual General Meeting of GTA was held on the 28th of October 2008.

There is an Annual General Meeting in the spring of each year.

This year, 2013, it was held at the Community Hall on Thursday, May 28 at 7 pm
